ILLNESS POLICY & PROCEDURES (Families/Provider)
Please advise the daycare prior to 8:00am if a child will not be attending daycare due to illness.

Parents agree that a child who is ill (fever, infection, diarrhea, communicable disease, or any other type of illness that may be passed on to others, with the
exception of the common cold or teething symptoms, will be kept at home to protect the well-being of my family and other children in my care.  The parents further
agree should a child become ill while in care that immediate arrangements will be made to remove the child from the daycare.  Children will not be allowed to
return to daycare until they have been symptom free for at least 24 hour and with out the aid of medications to suppress the symptoms listed above.  In some
cases a note from a doctor may be necessary.

In the event that one of my children or  I should become ill you will be notified as soon as possible if closure is necessary.   If the illness is minor and daycare is to
remain open you will be given the option to withdrawal your child for the day.  If you should decide to withdrawal your child your account will be credited due to the
inconvenience by an issued voucher.  If my child is to remain at home, I will do my very best to avoid direct contact with the other children in attendance.

HELD POSITIONS

  •    Future Openings
Occasionally provider may anticipate openings. $50 is required as a good faith deposit if you are interested in reserving such a space along with a
LETTER OF INTENT contract.  When care commences, provider will credit deposit to first weeks tuition.

  • The below policies will apply if care does not begin immediately when the position becomes available.

  •    Immediate Opening
After  signing a POLICY & PAYMENT AGREEMENT  the position will be held for up to two weeks at no charge.
After this time lapses the FT/PT rates for the given age group will be averaged and the holding fee will be paid at 1/2 of that amount until care begins .
        Please request quote from provider.

  • Holding fees are due at weeks start .  Failure to pay these fees will result in the daycare spot becoming available to other clients.  These fees are non
refundable and non creditable under ALL circumstances.  Clients can terminate this agreement but will forfeit and deposited funds.

OPEN DOOR POLICY & PARENT/PROVIDER COMMUNICATION
Parents are welcome in my home and may visit their child at any time during the day.  Please however take into consideration our daily schedule and nap/quiet
time when doing so.

Parents of infants and toddlers will receive a daily log outlining your child's day, including what activities they participated in, how they ate, napped, etc.  Important
information for all parents will be posted on the bulletin board and handouts will be sent home when necessary.

Communication is very important between parent and provider.  I do ask however that you keep conversations to a minimum at drop off or pick up time when other
children are in my care.  I can be reached by phone during the day but often due to our busy schedule I may not answer and ask that you leave a message.  I listen
to all messages immediately but unless your issue is urgent I will most likely return your call during nap time
(1:00-3:00pm).  Because it is important to me to give my full attention to the children in my care I ask that phone calls be kept to a minimum and ask that you try to
limit calls to avoid distractions.  I can also be reached via email through the website www.growingwithgiggles.com and your calls are welcome in the evening if
necessary.

MEDICATION
Written permission will be needed to administer any medication.  A  form with written instructions for all prescriptions and over the counter medications must be
completed including times and amounts before any medication will/can be given.

All prescription medication must be labeled with child's name, physician's name, drugstore/pharmacy name, prescription date and administering directions.
Non prescription drugs must  be accompanied by a completed permission form with name, date, duration, frequency and dosage.

SUBSTITUTE CARE
Parents will be responsible for finding substitute care on days when I am unavailable, whether scheduled or not, due to a medical emergency, family death,
illness, vacation, etc.

On some occurrences it may be necessary for me to provide a substitute to care for the children in my home (i.e. doctor/dentist appointments, activities for my
children, continuing education/training, etc.)  The substitute will be approved and qualified according to DCFS standards.

TRANSPORTATION
Those children who attend school must have prearranged transportation.  First Student (contracted company through BCSD 100) does provide transportation in
my neighborhood for some area schools and parents can contact them for further information.

When children are transported by school transportation the responsibility of the safety and well being of the children begins when they enter the providers home
and ends when the child leaves the providers property.  It is understood that children are not accompanied by an adult to or from the bus stop and the provider will
not be responsible for incidents or accidents that may occur between locations.

Since we frequently go on trips/outings consents must be provided to allow provider to transport children.  In most instances you will be notified if we are planning
to be away from the daycare home, but occasionally we will do impromptu outings.  Proper car seat restraint systems will be provided by provider unless
otherwise requested.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
Growing with Giggles Daycare will remain open if Belvidere CUSD 100 schools are not in session due to conditions.
Daycare will open/close at its regularly scheduled times in the event of late start/early dismissal due to inclement weather.

In the event that for any reason the daycare home loses power for more than two hours parents will be called to pick up their child as soon as possible.

PICK UP POLICY/LATE DEPARTURES
It is the parent's responsibility to ensure that children are picked up no later than 5:00 pm.  If you are not able to pick up your child by 5:00 pm alternate
arrangements must be made.  In the event that a parent cannot be contacted, it is my policy to call an emergency contact should a child remain in care after 5:15
pm.

A late fee of $5 per half hour (or any portion of a half hour) for first child and $2 per half-hour each additional hour will apply if a child remains in care after 5:05 pm
unless prior arrangements have been made.  This late fee will be invoiced and should be paid with following weeks tuition.

In the event that parents or the emergency contact(s) are unable to be reached the authorities will be called after 5:45 pm to ensure the safety of the child.

Please notify the daycare if an un designated person will be picking up your child.  Verbal permission must be received before I will release a child to anyone who
is not authorized on the registration form.  Photo identification will also be necessary for any unauthorized person picking up your child.  If consent and/or proper
identification are not received the child will not be released and the parent will be responsible for any additional fees that are incurred as a result.  Please
understand this is for your child's safety.

Please be sure that contact information is kept current.

DISCIPLINE
For minor misbehavior I will use time outs for children 18 months or older.  This involves your child sitting away from the group (but still within my supervision) for
one minute per year of age.  If misbehavior becomes a chronic problem the issue will be discussed with the parents and appropriate steps will be taken to work
towards correcting the matter.

Children under 18 months will be redirected to another activity if and when necessary to discourage unacceptable behaviors.

You will be contacted immediately regarding severe behavior issues.  If a child exhibits aggressive behavior that involves repeatedly physically hurting the provider
or other children in care the parent may be called to remove their child from daycare for the remainder of the day.
Also please note Growing with Giggles Behavior Concern Policy.

TERMINATION
Growing with Giggles Daycare reserves the right to suspend or terminate care of any child without notice, should it be deemed necessary for the overall safety and
well-being of my family and/or other children in my care or due to payment issues as outlined in the PAYMENT POLICY.

Provider also reserves the right to dismiss with two weeks notice (10 business days) for other reasons/concerns, parents will receive an explanation in writing if
this is necessary.  If care is terminated by provider but at no fault of the provider, (i.e behavioral concerns, payments issues, failure to follow policy/procedure
etc.) clients still agree to fulfill the payment obligation as outlined in the WITHDRAWAL POLICY (see below).

WITHDRAWAL
Parents are  allowed a six week  trial period at the initial start of care and can terminate without penalty during that time.
In all other situations parents agree that a minimum notice of a full two weeks (10 business days) will be given for permanent withdrawal of any child from care or
agree to pay the weekly fee until the two week obligation period is met.  No exceptions will be made. Activity Fees are non-refundable since often times curriculum
is purchased in advance.

Unused vacation days will be prorated based on the number of FULL months the child was in care for the year.  (Full Time =  One (1) vacation day per month in
care, Part Time = One (1) vacation day for every two (2) months in care.)  Provider unused vacation days will also be prorated the same way.

A Withdrawal from Childcare form must be completed by both parent and provider stating the date of notice as well as the date of the last day of care.

DAMAGES
My home is child-proofed to the best of my ability and according to licensing standards but, accidents do happen.  However, any damage to my home or personal
belongings that is willfully caused by your child will be replaced or repaired at the cost of the parents.

Growing with Giggles Daycare will repair or replace broken daycare equipment and toys due to normal wear and tear.  However, should your child purposely
damage or break equipment or toys, then the item will be repaired or replaced at the cost of the parents.

YOUR CHILD'S TOYS
A vast array of toys are provided for you child to play with.  Please do not bring any toys from home as this can cause jealousy and fighting among the children.  A
special pillow, blanket or stuffed animal may be brought for nap times.  These items will be kept in cubbies or diaper bags until nap time.

TELEVISION
Television usage is limited and is never used as a "babysitting" tool.  On occasion children are allowed to watch educational TV while enjoying breakfast, following
lunch or during afternoon snack time.  After 5pm as we are ending the day and waiting for parents arrivals the option of TV time is available.  In addition on each
Friday we will have movie time or during the summer months when weather conditions do not allow for outdoor play.

CURRICULUM
Growing with Giggles Daycare uses a daily curriculum which provides an activity for each day of the week.  The excellent Funshine Express curriculum includes
creative art materials for each child, alphabet and language activities, music and movement, hands-on math and science, social and sensory activities, games
and more.  This curriculum is provided for children 2 - 5 years old only during the academic year and for all children over age two during summer months for
a minimal fee Activity Fee, due in August, November, February and May.  We also enjoy Kindermusik, a biweekly program provided in the daycare home for all
ages.

POTTY TRAINING

MEALS
Growing with Giggles Daycare participates in the ACD Food Program.  Meals will be provided for child eating regular table foods.  This includes breakfast, lunch,
and two snacks per day.  The time of the meals is stated on the daily schedule.  If your child cannot eat the planned meals due to diet, allergies or other such
circumstances you do have the option of sending a sack lunch.  Meals must be provided for infants who can not yet eat table food.  This includes jarred baby food,
and special developmental finger foods.  Infant formula (Parent's Choice with Iron) will be supplied by the provider as part of the ACD Food Program.  The parent
my choose to sign a waiver if they would prefer to supply their own formula/breatmilk.  Infants will be fed on demand as needed throughout the day.

NAPS/QUIET TIME
Rest time is essential for the development of your child.  Each child under 5 years old will be required to take a nap or have quiet time when in care between 1:00 -
3:00 pm.  Infants will nap according to their own schedule.  I will provide a playpen/portable crib for infants and cots for those 18 months and older.

CLOTHING
Your child is to come dressed for the day.  I ask that your child wear clothing that is appropriate for play.  Children learn best though play and this sometimes
means getting a bit messy or dirty.  Therefore please do not dress your child in clothes that must be kept tidy or are difficult to clean.  Also, please be sure they
have appropriate footwear (preferably no sandals or dress shoes) and outerwear for the current season as we do play outdoors most everyday weather
permitting.

Each child should also have a second outfit available in case of an accident or mess.  Children under 24 months or those that are potty training should have  at
least two additional outfits.

SUPPLIES PROVIDED BY PARENT

In most cases provider will supply equipment for infants.  Occasionally it may be requested that parents purchase a inexpensive second hand item to be used at
daycare if necessary under certain circumstances.

CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT
As a licensed provider I am required by law to report any child abuse or neglect I suspect to the proper authorities.

ACCIDENTS/INJURIES
My home is child-proofed to the best of my ability and according to licensing standards, however as already stated, accidents do happen.  Also on occasion a child
is hurt by another child.  In this case you will be notified as well as the parent of the child that inflicted the injury.  Unless it becomes a repetitive issue names will
not be given.  If incidents between the children become an ongoing issue both parties, as well as myself, will be involved in resolving the problem.

Minor injuries will be documented and you will receive a copy of an "Ouch Report" which lists injuries and the attention/care given.

Emergencies will be treated as such and I will accompany your child with paramedics to the designated hospital, where you will be immediately notified.

I am First Aid/CPR trained which is a required licensing standard, and will apply First Aid/CPR techniques as necessary and to the best of my ability.
